Wonderwalls: From Festival to Full-Service Creative Agency

What started as creating commercial street art projects in 2001, formalised as Verb Syndicate in 2008, and launched as Wonderwalls festival in 2012, has now grown into something far bigger. Over the past two decades, whatever this started as has evolved from a celebration of creativity into a full-service agency and cultural hub - a place for art, placemaking, and creative design.

We’ve witnessed street art shift from an underground scene to a recognised industry. Those early festivals transformed walls and communities, brought world-class artists to Australia (or better, Wollongong) for the first time, and laid the foundations for a global network of collaborators. Working with councils, developers, and brands that value creativity with purpose, we helped define what creative placemaking could achieve.

With all of that being said, today, Wonderwalls now operates as a multidisciplinary studio, combining curatorial vision, cultural insight, and production expertise to deliver projects from concept to completion.

What we offer: We’re more than murals. Wonderwalls is built to deliver lasting impact through:

  • Creative direction & curation:
Developing concepts, matching artists, and shaping the visual language of projects.

  • Project management & production:
Handling logistics, permits, fabrication, and installation with precision.

  • Brand & cultural collaborations:
Partnering with organisations to tell authentic stories through art and design.

  • Community engagement:
Creating opportunities for connection, education, and local participation.

  • Consulting & strategy:
Advising on creative placemaking, public art policy, and cultural development.

Our focus
At its core, creativity transforms places and perspectives. Every wall, project, and collaboration is an opportunity to build connection - between artist and audience, culture and community.

Looking ahead
2026 holds exciting moments for us as we expand festival curation and launch our Wonderwalls Pop-Up Program, self-funded projects giving artists 100% creative control, produced in collaboration with our friends at MTN Australia.

It remains vital that we nurture and grow the culture, leaving it stronger than we found it, and even better than when it all started.
