Project Outline:

Artist Selection & Collaboration:

We teamed up with Georges River Council and Transport for New South Wales to flip Olds Park in Penshurst from “meh” to “wow.” A dull retaining wall became a vibrant community mural, packed with colour, energy, and play. Joel Cameron was the local artist we brought in to make it sing. The brief? Celebrate local culture, reflect the community, and bring some fun to the space. We ran a collaborative process with Council to make sure the work responded to the site and the people who use it every day.

Community Participation & Engagement:

We turned the paint-by-numbers into a proper community event. Over 300 people showed up, so popular that we had to restock and run it again the next day just to accommodate everyone. Kids, parents, neighbours - all leaving a mark, literally and figuratively. The mural also features games for kids. Bullseyes, targets, hopscotch, and other bits and pieces in the ground mural, so the space isn’t just for looking at, it’s for playing in. This engagement strengthened community ownership and connection to the artwork.

Project Delivery & Support:

Our team coordinated scheduling, materials, access, and on-site support to ensure Joel could focus on executing his creative vision while we kept everything running smoothly.

Public Impact & Legacy:

The mural now stands as a colourful landmark within Olds Park. It’s playful, inclusive, and engaging, reflecting the vibrancy of the local community. It demonstrates how public art can activate everyday spaces, foster pride, and create a place people actually want to spend time in.
