Benalla Street Art Festival is entering a bold new chapter for 2026, and we couldn’t be more stoked to announce that Wonderwalls is officially taking the reins of curation. Under the artistic leadership of our founder, Simon Grant, we’re bringing our passion for creative transformation to the heart of Regional Victoria.
At Wonderwalls, we’ve always believed in the "Art Effect" - the idea that large-scale public murals do more than just beautify a wall; they act as a heartbeat for the community, sparking pride and driving cultural renewal. Having spent over 15 years turning cities like Wollongong, Port Kembla and Port Adelaide into world-class open-air galleries, we’re bringing that same global perspective and deep network of talent to Benalla.
For us, this isn't just about adding more paint to the town; it’s about synergy and elevation. We want to honour the incredible legacy of Benalla’s 85+ existing murals while injecting a fresh, contemporary energy that resonates with locals and traveler’s alike.
What We’re Bringing to the Table
For the 2026 program (running April 17–19), we are crafting an experience that goes beyond the brushstroke.
You can expect:
World-Class Curation: A hand-picked roster featuring international heavyweights alongside the best homegrown Australian talent.
Film Screenings: New and historic street culture screenings.
Deep Storytelling: We’re looking for murals that tell a story.
True Connection: From live painting sessions to artist talks, we’re pulling back the curtain so you can see exactly how these massive visions come to life.
As we collaborate with the Benalla Rural City Council and the local community, our goal is simple: to solidify Benalla as the ultimate destination for street art. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life or you’re visiting for the first time, we can’t wait to show you what we have in store.
